Procedure

We require that puppies starting in our groups have finished their entire series of puppy shots, and have been cleared by their veterinarian to be around other dogs. This is usually around four months of age. This is a very important time for a puppy to learn how to play with other dogs, how to behave in a group, and how to relate to new situations in the outside world. For this reason we encourage puppies to start going out with the group as soon as they have finished their shots, however we have dogs start at all ages. It just may take older dogs a little longer to adjust to the routine.

We meet with all prospective clients and their dogs at their home, or wherever the dog will be picked up for the walk. During this meeting we provide a photo album which shows current pictures of the dogs playing, hiking, sitting in the car, etc. We also discuss with the client the dog's personality and temperament so that we can determine which walk might best be suited for the dog.

We ask all our clients to fill out an application form, which asks various questions about the dog's medical history, training, and behavioral patterns. This form also asks for the client's home and work or cell phone numbers, as well as the name of a back-up contact person. We keep these forms with us while we are out with the dogs.

Four Paws® clients provide us with house keys or garage codes. For these reasons we are bonded and licensed. The keys are unidentifiable to any outside person, and are kept safely with us and never provided to anyone else.

Four Paws is run solely by Adam and Catherine Lynch. The same person will care for your dog every day. We have many long-term clients whose names we can provide for you in a long list of excellent references. If you sign your dog up for our service, you can be assured that a dedicated and responsible person will treat him or her with the utmost care and protection. You will periodically receive updates and pictures of your dog with his or her friends, and we are always readily available for comments or questions.

Four Paws operates on a monthly system. This allows for consistency in the groups, as well as a convenience for our clients. There are a variety of different schedule options starting with one walk per day, up to all day care.

The average charge per walk is $15.00. Overnight boarding is available to full-time clients on a limited basis and subject to availability.
